Finding the Dunsmuir Railroad Park Resort was a real treat. I had planned a last minute adventure to Mt Shasta area when I saw summer weather in the forecast. There are so many things to do in this area, especially if you love the outdoors. Between the cozy caboose hotel rooms, the incredible views of Castle Crags, a pool to cool down in, and a full bar and restaurant, the railroad park resort has it all. This guide will cover where to book, what to see while you’re there and more!

Booking Options!!
Excited to book your own Caboose Cabin? There are two options to book lodging here.
Book Through RR Park Resort Website
You can book directly through the Resort’s website! It is hard to tell if it will save you some money booking directly. Airbnb does always have fees that get tacked on.
Book Through Airbnb
I booked through Airbnb because I was unaware I could book directly! If you’re a first time Airbnb user, use my link to sign up and get up to $65 off your first booking! *This is not sponsored. I would receive a small credit towards my next stay with Airbnb.
Food Options near Dunsmuir Railroad Park
- Yaks on the 5 – I cannot begin to tell you how obsessed we were with this burger joint. They had the most absurd burger combinations (and veggie burger options!) and an excellent tap list if you’re a beer drinker!
- Railroad Park Resort Dining Car – We unfortunately didn’t get to experience the on site dining as it is only open Wednesday through Sunday and we were there Tuesday. But it looks so charming (and convenient).
- Pipeline – Crafts, Taps, and Kitchen – This was definitely a more “upscale casual” type of place with incredible food. A little bit of a drive to get to, but definitely worth it.
- Ask the front desk for a printed list of dining options!!
