The redwood Tree house is located halfway between San Francisco California and Portland Oregon.
Getting to the Treehouse in Northern California
The nearest airport is Del Norte County Regional Airport in Crescent City, California. There are typically two trips in and out of Crescent City to Oakland California each day, but check the airport for recent updates.
- Drive time from San Francisco: 6.5 hours
You will need a vehicle to get to the Treehouse. There are 2 taxi cab companies in Crescent City that you can reserve before (recommended), but if you plan to go anywhere besides the treehouse, I would highly recommend renting a vehicle! A standard vehicle is adequate, AWD or 4WD is not necessary.
Note: There is only one parking spot for this rental (unless the other rentals aren’t booked), but if you contact the host, they can help make accommodations.

How to Book this California Treehouse
A lot of you are sleeping on the Platform HipCamp! A lot of people search for ‘Airbnb’ on google and completely miss some really unique options on HipCamp (that’s why I put airbnb in the title)
This place stays pretty booked out, so plan ahead and also check back often for cancelations!
What to Pack for the Treehouse in California?
What to pack will depend on the time of year! The redwoods can be very rainy and this dome is not very watertight. The owner does put a tarp over it if rain is expected, but I’d recommend a summer trip to get the most out of this treehouse rental.
